John Parmiter is currently the Strategic Planning Advisor to the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's).

Since 2002, he been helping develop and promote the 2020 Vision for the expansion of the campus to form the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.  The 70 acre site lies in the Cambridge Green Belt.

Planning permissions secured acknowledge the site's regional significance in the RSS, with release from the Green Belt and appropriate allocations in the Local Plan.  An application for 2.5m sq.ft of mixed commercial and clinical R&D facilities has also successfully secured approval, enabling development to secure new infrastructure.  An application for 35,000 sqm of hotel (to be a non-NHS facility) and other quasi-commercial space on Trust land has also been approved.
