Strategic Employment Development - Crick, Northamptonshire
In May 2007, the professional team advised by
Roger Tym & Partners secured planning permission for the
redevelopment of this former abattoir site for one of the largest B2/B8
schemes in the Midlands. We then obtained a renewal of this permission
for Gazeley UK Ltd in 2010.
The development will comprise over 1.5 million sq ft of floor space in two buildings. The larger of these – at some 1.3 million sq ft - will be among the biggest single warehouse units to be granted planning permission to date anywhere in the Midlands and North of England.
The strategic planning benefits of the site are many:
Through careful formulation of the scheme and a detailed negotiation and consultation process, we convinced the local authority and the local population that they will be both economically and environmentally better off. In fact, the community involvement exercise resulted in unprecedented levels of support.
Our work involved a number of innovative approaches to planning challenges; the final community involvement exercise resulted in particularly high levels of support from local people for this major commercial development proposal.

RTP successfully managed the planning application process (which included an Environmental Impact Assessment) and demonstrated with detailed evidence that the proposal would:
