Flintshire Healthchecks
In August 2008, Roger Tym & Partners completed a health check study for seven town centres in Flintshire. The study has provided the Council with comprehensive data on current performance of the County's main town and district centres in relation to a wide range of indicators.
The study identified the scale of retail floorspace needed in the County in order for its centres to remain competitive. Commercial, leisure and other town centre uses were also assessed. We conducted a range of quantitative and qualitative research to build a detailed picture of existing shopping and leisure patterns.

Having evaluated the vitality and viability of each centre, we provided a series of recommendations and draft action plans (with indicative timescales for implementation) for each. The County Council is using our findings to inform the development of its town action plans. The outputs provide a baseline for future monitoring, and can be used by the Council and its partners to help ensure each centre's long-term sustainability.
