Viability has been identified as an area where there is a significant skills issue for local government planners.
1. PAS courses
We are working with the Planning Advisory Service (PAS), the Advisory Team for Large Applications (ATLAS) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to help deliver a series of training courses for local authority planners across England and address this skills gap.

2. Roger Tym courses
Due to the limited places on the PAS course, and in response to approaches by individual authorities and agencies, we have developed two courses, designed to be delivered in-house, a 1 day course ; and a 2 day course

- improve their relationships and negotiate with developers on site allocations and development proposals.
- better understand the development process and its value in planning and decision making.
- improve their understanding of the viability implications of DPD policies.
- get better quality decision making at lower cost through improved procurement.
