Bill has 35 years' consultancy experience in planning and development in the UK and overseas.

Bill has worked for a wide range of clients, including CLG and its predecessors, Government Offices, local authorities, development corporations, developers, investing institutions, retailers, housebuilders and development banks such as the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

He has extensive experience of planning for the Growth Areas and the Thames Gateway and has been heavily involved in the firm's recent work on housing and project implementation. He gave evidence at the ODPM Parliamentary Select Committee Inquiry into Sustainable Housing and Communities and is currently a Board Director of Ashford's Future Delivery Company.

Bill has also progressed the firm's work in the retail sector. He acted in relation to the expansions of Brent Cross, Merry Hill, Lakeside and, in Ireland, Liffey Valley and Northside Shopping Centres. He has also helped a number of local authorities develop town centre improvement strategies. He directed the national study of the retail sector in the Republic of Ireland and prepared draft Retail Planning Guidelines for the Irish Government. He has also undertaken a similar study in Northern Ireland

Bill was the firm's Managing Partner from 1997 to 2008.
