The Team
Matthew is an experienced Chartered Town Planner, practicing since 1998 and attaining full membership of the RTPI in 2001. Matthew's experience is primarily in the fields of regeneration and economic development consultancy. He has lead and managed numerous projects across the north of England and north Wales.
The majority of Matthew's work has been on behalf of public sector bodies, with an emphasis on creating ambitious strategies that are deliverable in prevailing market conditions. Regionally, Matthew has worked with both Yorkshire Forward and NWDA as delivery partners for masterplans in Bridlington, the Fruit Market area of Hull City Centre and in Whitehaven. Matthew has also advised URCs in East Manchester, West Cumbria and Salford in preparing regeneration frameworks and strategies, and has lead regeneration projects for local authorities including Carlisle, Amber Valley, Ryedale and Denbighshire.
His economic development projects include employment land studies, sector demand studies and investment strategies, including advice to the NWDA on the development of an aerospace sector business park near Preston and to the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities on the scale and nature of demand for employment land and premises arising from various sectors. He also prepared an Investment Prospectus for Cheshire and Warrington’s market towns. Matthew specialises in assessing the viability of regeneration and economic development projects and advising on their delivery, having recently lead RTP’s highly acclaimed ‘Viability Skills for Planners’ training course on behalf of the Planning Advisory Service delivered to nearly 600 local authority planners and planning inspectors. He also has an in-depth understanding of the related fields of design, development surveying and economics, which enable him to bring a diverse range of specialist knowledge to best address the challenges of each project.
