Pioneering Site Allocations DPD is found sound

July 2009

East Northamptonshire Council’s Rural North, Oundle and Thrapston Plan Site Allocations DPD

Following an Examination in Public, East Northamptonshire Council’s Rural North, Oundle and Thrapston Plan (RNOTP) Site Allocations DPD was this week found sound and all site allocations were agreed by the Inspector.  This is one of the first Site Allocations DPDs in the country to be found sound, and the first which supplements a Joint Core Strategy.  A key part of the evidence base that facilitated this was provided by Roger Tym & Partners.

We have been working with the Council on the RNOTP since December 2008.  We used our unique Site Assessment Matrix (SAM) to provide the evidence base.  This pioneering work built upon our recent North Northamptonshire SHLAA and was used to select the most appropriate sites for housing.

The Examination Inspector confirmed on 8 July 2009 that the work undertaken by RTP using the SAM provides a sufficiently detailed, robust and credible evidence base on which to make site allocations, all of which were agreed by the Inspector.
