RTP to evaluate economic participation programme

February 2009

Roger Tym & Partners has been commissioned by Peterborough City Council to evaluate its 2008/09 Economic Participation Programme and its projects for 2009/10.

Economic Participation is the new working framework for the Investment in Communities regeneration programme.  It targets the most disadvantaged residents across the region, helping them remain in or get back into employment through training, enterprise support and personalised advice.  The framework also aims to further partnership work within the public, private and voluntary sectors.  Projects in Peterborough include Learning Communities, business support such as the nationwide BizFizz project and personal coaching.

The project evaluations will identify areas of possible improvement and make recommendations to the Economic Participation team.  This information will feed into the programme evaluation, which will also cover issues such as monitoring, the commissioning process and management arrangements.

Our work will help the Economic Participation team improve delivery and ensure the programme achieves long-term results for those who need it the most.

Over the last three years, we have been involved in various stages of the Investing in Communities programme (now Economic Participation) - from producing the evidence base behind business plans to programme evaluations - for Luton and Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Greater Cambridge and Hertfordshire.
