RTP to provide employment evidence base for Oadby and Wigston

June 2010
Roger Tym & Partners has been appointed by Oadby and Wigston Council to carry out a study of potential ‘employment’ sites (Use Classes B1/B2/B8) to inform the Council's Employment Land Development Plan Document. Supported by Innes England, RTP will develop a hierarchy of sites to be developed or safeguarded for employment uses, or which require some form of intervention to make them developable and attractive to the market.

The borough, on the edge of Leicester, has a limited supply of available sites for employment uses and needs a structured, transparent means of communicating which sites should be safeguarded and why. The final report will help Oadby and Wigston Council improve the provision of modern, competitive employment sites across the borough, thereby supporting local economic development.

This Employment and Brownfield Sites Study is due to be completed in July, and will assess and compare a wide range of potential employment sites across the borough.

Using its unique Site Assessment Matrix, which was found sound following an Examination in Public regarding East Northamptonshire Council’s Rural North, Oundle and Thrapston Plan (RNOTP) DPD in 2009, RTP will assess each site individually using a range of qualitative and quantitative measures.
