Regeneration awards

September 2009
Roger Tym & Partners attended the annual Regeneration & Renewal awards in London on 23 September as a guest of Prospect Leicestershire – a new economic development company and the area’s successor to Leicester Regeneration Company.  RTP was very pleased for its successful clients – three won awards – and for the part RTP played in assisting their success:
  • Leicester Regeneration Company - Regeneration Partnership of the Year for its delivery of a "coherent city centre strategy".
RTP led the team that prepared the strategy – the Leicester City Centre Masterplan – and is delighted that it has proved to be of genuine value to LRC in transforming Leicester city centre.
  • St Stephens, Hull - Mixed Use Project of the Year.
RTP led the masterplan team that was the genesis of St Stephen’s and went on to play a key role for the Council, Yorkshire Forward and English Partnerships in helping to deliver the vision for St Stephen’s – a retail-led scheme which helped to finance and deliver a bus-rail interchange in the restored Grade 2 rail station, a music centre for Hull’s schools and a new home for Hull Truck as well as major new public spaces.
  • Hammerson - Developer of the Year for Highcross in Leicester and Cabot Circus in Bristol.
The Highcross scheme was one of the major projects promoted by the RTP-led Leicester City Centre Masterplan; RTP also advised on retail capacity and gave expert evidence at the CPO inquiry.
RTP has been working in regeneration for the whole of its 36 years, and is delighted that its work continues to contribute to better, more sustainable, cities.  Many congratulations to Leicester Regeneration Company, Hull Forward and Hammerson!
