Economics For Development + Local and regional
economic studies and strategies
We produce visions and strategies for local and sub-regional
economies. We:
outline economic futures for town, cities and sub-regions;
devise practical and effective solutions for achieving objectives – including
bending existing programmes and policies as well as new projects;
conceive development schemes that will overcome market failure,
generate wealth and create jobs;
secure the community and political support needed to deliver
change; and
advise on the policy platform to enable change.
Examples of our economic development work include:
the masterplans and investment strategies for the Walsall, Leicester,
Swindon and Hull URC areas; the Economic Futures Study for Norfolk
which, amongst other aims, is to guide development to ensure a
balance between new jobs and new housing; and research into the
causal relationship between Jobs and Housing for English Partnerships.
Egremont Regeneration Strategy, Wirral - This strategy proposes a range of physical and environmental projects to secure the future of the
Egremont shopping area. The study was carried out as part of the Merseyside (Liverpool, Sefton
and Wirral) Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder initiative.
Canada Water - Retained as planning consultants by Conrad Phoenix to advise on development of two major sites
in Canada Wharf.
West Gorton Regeneration Framework - Consideration to economic viability, housing conditions, transport issues and land-use potential
were key elements of the study.
