Matthew's experience is primarily in the fields of regeneration and economic development consultancy.  He has lead and managed numerous masterplans and regeneration strategies across the north of England and north Wales.

His economic development projects include employment land studies, sector demand studies and investment strategies.  Matthew has an in-depth understanding of the related fields of design, development surveying and economics, which enable him to bring a diverse range of specialist knowledge to best address the challenges of each project.

The majority of Matthew's work has been on behalf of public sector bodies, with an emphasis on creating ambitious strategies that are deliverable in prevailing market conditions.  Regionally, Matthew has advised the NWDA on the development of an aerospace sector business park near Preston and worked with both Yorkshire Forward and NWDA as delivery partners for masterplans in Bridlington and Whitehaven.  At a sub-regional level, Matthew has advised the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities on the scale and nature of demand for employment land and premises arising from various sectors, and Cheshire County Council / Warrington Borough Council on an investment prospectus for their market towns.

Matthew has worked with URCs in East Manchester, West Cumbria and Salford in preparing regeneration frameworks and strategies, and has led regeneration projects for local authorities including Carlisle, Amber Valley, Ryedale and Denbighshire.

Matthew is an experienced Chartered Town Planner, practicing since 1998 and attaining full membership of the RTPI in 2001.
